The vision of THEDI is to envision achieving optimal health for community development for the people we serve.
THEDI is out to partner with communities, and stakeholders to protect, promote, and improve people’s health and well-being to achieve sustainable community development.
Our goal is to have IMPACT IN LIVES by protecting, promoting, and improving the well-being of the people with a focus to promote sustainable community development in Tanzania.
Tanzania Health, Environment, and Development Initiatives (THEDI) was founded in October 2022 by a group of energetic specialists in public health, environment, finance and administration, monitoring and evaluation, and information technology. They came together with the mission to partner with communities, and stakeholders to protect, promote, and improve people’s health and well-being. They also realized the necessity of this establishment as a driving force in contributing to sustainable community development in Tanzania. THEDI like other Non-Governmental Organizations and international humanitarian institutions, aims at achieving sustainable results from developmental initiatives where health promotion is seen as a core driving force. The multisectoral approach will lead to the success of the organization and the focus will be on strengthening the participation and involvement of communities and different stakeholders for impactful initiatives.
TANZANIA HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT, AND DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVES (THEDI) is a local NGO established under the Non-Governmental Organization Act, 2002 with registration No. 00NGO/R/4153. THEDI is legally operating in accordance with its governing constitution and the law of the United Republic of Tanzania. For the bolded impact of its mission, THEDI shall jointly work in partnership with the Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Women, and Special Groups, and Regional Administration and Local Government (PORALG).
For THEDI community engagement is the cornerstone in addressing viable community concerns toward attaining total well-being and community development. THEDI focuses to work with a range of stakeholders including Community-owned Resource Persons (CRP) like local leaders, religious leaders, Community Health Workers (CHWs), Community Change Agents (CCA), community groups such as women’s groups, and youth groups, teachers, and school children through the implementation of different initiatives. The purpose of engaging various stakeholders is to implore communities’ insights and consequently influence the entire community’s needs assessment and planning process. THEDI believed that common decisions among stakeholders towards the implementation of various public health, environmental, and development initiatives could lead to impactful and viable results.
